Not sure of the story behind this, but to me he looks like he is refusing to go to bed and asking to play instead! The most difficult bit of this to paint - apart from dealing with the low lighting levels and stopping the puppy disappearing into the gloom - was that paw at the front. An extra large puppy paw exaggerated by being so close to the camera in the original photo. In the first version, I thought his paw looked all swollen like it had been trodden on, so it was start again and re-paint. This version is OK though, I think.
Tomorrow, the last of the Weimaraners (for now) and not a "daily painting" - it will be the larger piece I have been working on now for 10 days or so.
