Monday Mandarin

Some daily still life paintings coming up, as promised. Difficult to think of anything much to write about still life paintings, so my comments may well be less wordy. Pithier, as my partner helpfully put it. Ouch.

There are some fantastic still life paintings available on-line. My favourite is the Rijksmuseum which has fantastic search facilities. Or try the Google Art Project, where I found this example, by an 18th century painter, Raphaelle Peale, a bloke despite the funny spelling of his name (he had a brother called Titian). Trained in art by his father, he is described as the first American still life painter.
