Oscar is a beautiful pedigree Somali. Here he is in his full "winter plumage". He sheds his fur in clumps in early spring, and has much less of a distinctive mane until about this time of year when his fur starts noticeably thickening up again. I have found Oscar incredibly difficult to paint and this is the first piece I have felt able to post. Oils on board, 10"x8", the underpainting is done in Rembrandt Quinacridone Gold, my new favourite colour. Sunshine in a tube.
