A foxhound is a dog I have only seen from a distance until recently, when I came across a female - wandering alone in the woods having become separated from the hunt. Every so often, the hunting horn would sound in the far distance and she would be off to find her mates. A few minutes later she would re-appear, unsuccessful, and clearly of the view that we were better than no pack at all. We called her Dozy Dora. The main dog in this painting looks like Dozy Dora. I have given her the hint of a pack as a foxhound seems a sad dog on its own. Hopefully Dora found her way home eventually.
